After years of working together, the Monarch Joint Venture is pleased to officially welcome Natural Habitat Adventures (NatHab) to the MJV partnership.

Since 1985, when the company’s first tour took guests to see harp seals in Canada’s Gulf of St. Lawrence, NatHab has been working to provide people with up-close experiences in nature in an unobtrusive manner, with trips averaging just nine guests. This includes African safaris, Galapagos Tours, Antarctic journeys, and beyond, as well as its Kingdom of the Monarchs tours to monarch overwintering sites in Mexico.

The Monarch Joint Venture partners with NatHab on a yearly trip to the overwintering sites. Due to the trip’s popularity, we even added a second tour in 2027. The 2027 trip with open spots takes place from March 2-7.

On these trips, as well as NatHab’s other Kingdom of the Monarchs tours, the organization partners with local communities and Ejidos in central Mexico’s oyamel fir forests to provide travelers with a close look at overwintering monarchs while bringing income to local economies, strengthening community-led stewardship of monarch sanctuaries, and supporting long-term monitoring and scientific efforts in the area.

NatHab, which has been the official conservation travel partner of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) since 2003, works to ensure that local families benefit from the protection of monarch habitat and visitors learn about conservation and become advocates for pollinators while reducing their carbon footprint. The organization has offset all of its carbon dioxide emissions since 2007, created electric safari vehicles, and operated the world’s first zero-waste adventure. The organization gives $175,000 yearly to WWF plus 1% of its gross sales, as well as other philanthropic efforts in areas near the organization’s destinations, including central Mexico.

Thank you to NatHab for their continued partnership in support of monarchs and other wildlife.
