We work with farmers, ranchers, land stewards, community groups, Tribes and conservation partners to restore high-quality native pollinator habitat across the entire state of California.
Monarchs & More Western Habitat Program (M&MWHP)– Providing native seed mixes, milkweed plugs where appropriate, and technical assistance to enhance native pollinator habitat on land throughout the entire state of California.
Pollinator-Friendly Land Stewardship – Supporting sustainable agriculture, ranching, and other forms of land stewardship that benefit monarchs and other native pollinators by meeting land stewards where they are, honoring each individual’s context, knowledge, and lifeways.
Urban & Community Gardens – Encouraging habitat creation in yards, hell strips, schools, and community spaces that support monarchs and more including people who are seeking food sovereignty opportunities. Ensuring these habitats are maintained and sustained by Community-Led Garden Coalitions.
Monitoring M&MWHP Participant Lands – The M&MWHP provides regionally specific plant materials and technical assistance for pollinator plantings. M&MWHP participants are encouraged to monitor their restored or enhanced habitats using the Integrated Monarch Monitoring Program (IMMP), shedding light on habitat availability on private working and non-working lands across California.
Native Plant & Seed Suppliers – Find regionally appropriate plants for your area using the MJV Milkweed and Wildflower Vendor Map. The California Native Plants Society has a wonderful resource for finding, selecting and growing California native plants that support California’s unique biodiversity and wildlife called Calscape.org. Visit Calscape.org to enter your address, get plant lists and create garden plans.
