Monarch Joint Venture's education program began in 2019 and plays a large role in helping MJV achieve its mission to protect and conserve the monarch butterfly and its migration. The education program is generously supported by the US Forest Service International Program, donations, and fee-based programming.
The education program aims to:
- Create a more connected and informed partner network for education and outreach for monarchs.
- Provide relevant and reliable monarch education information and tools to partners and other stakeholders.
- Communicate scientific outcomes to the public and partners to inform education practices.
- Connect partners, stakeholders, and the public to the resources they need to effectively communicate and educate others about monarch conservation.
The education program does this by providing:
- Professional development workshops to teachers, educators, partners, and other stakeholders
- Curated educational resources to share widely within and outside of the MJV partnership
- Webinars to inform the public on current issues and science updates in monarch conservation
- Local outreach to communities where MJV staff are based
Check out our Services page to learn more about outreach opportunities for your school or group. If you have questions about the education program, please contact Katie-Lyn Puffer, the Education Coordinator, at education@monarchjointventure.org
