The Monarch Joint Venture is pleased to welcome its newest partner, Remembrance Forest, to our national conservation network.

Remembrance Forest offers a unique way for individuals across the country to contribute to long-term habitat restoration. By offering memorial and celebration tree plantings, the organization transforms personal tributes into thriving ecosystems. These plantings are conducted in collaboration with an established ecosystem restoration firm, ensuring that every tree contributes to a larger, professionally managed landscape designed for maximum conservation value. To ensure the longevity of these efforts, the land within the Remembrance Forest program is protected by conservation easements, preventing future development and safeguarding the habitat for generations to come.

The impact of these restoration efforts extends beyond the trees themselves. Part of Remembrance Forest will be set aside for prairie, and the management of that land will be focused on monarchs and other pollinators, with milkweeds, goldenrods, violets, asters, and other plants hosting and feeding numerous species. Additionally, the understory of the young forest will also be planted with pollinator-friendly species, benefitting monarchs and other species for the 10 to 15 years it takes to establish a tree canopy.

Through these restoration efforts and their public outreach, Remembrance Forest is committed to expanding protected habitat while inspiring others to take action for pollinators. With the backing of a restoration partner that has successfully restored over 3,000 acres of prairies, wetlands, and forests over the last two decades, Remembrance Forest brings both heart and proven expertise to the MJV partnership.

We are pleased to welcome Remembrance Forest to the MJV and look forward to their continued contributions to monarch and pollinator conservation. For more information about Remembrance Forest, please visit https://www.remembranceforest.com/.
