The MJV is thrilled to welcome North American Land Trust to the partnership. North American Land Trust (NALT) preserves and manages open space with ecological, agricultural, or historical significance. Working with individuals, corporate landowners, local and state governments, NALT has conserved more than 135,000 acres of land across the United States, and is working to implement a pollinator habitat restoration project on a recently acquired property in Pennsylvania, the Brinton Run Preserve. Brinton Run Preserve will also be NALT’s first public preserve.

NALT will work on converting the former agricultural fields to grassland and native meadow habitat, to create a safe haven for monarchs and other wildlife species. Their hope is that the successful habitat restoration at Brinton Run Preserve will serve as a model for habitat enhancement and restoration within their organization and local communities. The Preserve will serve as a baseline for future land acquisitions, and potential partnerships with private landowners. NALT works with a diverse group of partners, including private landowners, corporate landowners, environmental consulting firms, mitigation specialists, other nonprofit land conservancies, and government agencies across the country, and believes there is an interest in creating and enhancing pollinator habitat on partner-owned properties in the future.

We are excited to have NALT join the MJV partnership, and help them create a model for monarch and pollinator habitat within their conservation portfolio. The habitat enhancement project at Brinton Run Preserve will not only provide native plants and resources for pollinators and monarchs, but will also present an opportunity to connect with the public through outreach and educational opportunities that can be supported by the MJV.
