As 2024 draws to a close, we look back on a fantastic year for the Monarch Conservation Webinar Series! With great attendance and a growing community of monarch enthusiasts, researchers, and conservationists, this series has continued to bring people together to share insights, engage in meaningful conversations, and inspire action. This year alone, over 2,000 people joined us live to explore topics ranging from monarch biology and conservation techniques to community science projects, with countless others accessing the recordings on our website to continue their learning.
Each month, expert speakers from around North America brought unique perspectives, from in-depth looks at monarch migration and habitat requirements to the role of policy in conservation efforts. Here is the vibrant list of speakers we had this year:
January: Community Engagement in Monarch Conservation through the Arts
February: Solar Synergy: Delivering Multiple Environmental Benefits
March: Monarchs 101: Back to Basics
July: Monarch research and restoration highlights: Collaborations in the west
September: Tracking Shifts in Food Availability for Monarchs and Other Pollinators
October: Elementos fundamentales de la mariposa monarca (a special webinar in Spanish!)
November: AZA SAFE Monarch: Engagement and Conservation in Zoo and Aquariums
And we have one more webinar this year! Tune in on December 17th with Kay Havens from the Chicago Botanical Gardens for the following webinar: An Assessment of Native Seed Needs and the Capacity for Their Supply.
