Luis Osorio
Science & Monitoring Associate
As the Science & Monitoring Associate with the Monarch Joint Venture, Luis assists with conducting pollinator and habitat surveys, supporting organizational GIS and database needs, and creating, and/or uplifting science and monitoring resources for MJV partners and the public. He uses both the Integrated Monarch Monitoring Program (IMMP) and cutting-edge remote sensing technology to quantify the density of common milkweed and other pollinator-friendly plants.
Luis was born and raised in a small town in Gurrero, México, when he was 12, he immigrated with his parents to the United States. He grew up surrounded by nature, which played a big role in his interest in protecting the natural world. He recently graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a B.A in Environmental Science with an emphasis on biology. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, painting, listening to different podcasts and exploring the outdoors (hiking, fishing, camping).
