Brittany Smith

Habitat Program Manager (she/her)
Brittany Smith directs the Monarch Joint Venture’s nationwide Habitat Program, overseeing the planning and delivery of conservation projects that restore and enhance habitat for monarchs and pollinators. She manages program operations, supports and supervises MJV’s habitat staff, and builds partnerships across diverse landscapes, from agricultural working lands to urban green spaces, ensuring that habitat goals align with science-based priorities and community needs. While her background is rooted in field-based technical assistance and private lands conservation in the Central Flyway, her current role emphasizes strategic leadership, coordination with partners, and scaling habitat outcomes at the national level. Brittany previously worked in wetland ecology and restoration with USDA–NRCS, Pheasants Forever, and Quail Forever. She holds a B.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife and a Master’s in Natural Resources Management from North Dakota State University. Based in west-central Minnesota, Brittany enjoys fishing, hiking, and nature photography. She lives and works on her family farm, where she also helps manage a cow-calf grazing operation, free-range laying hens, heritage turkeys, and specialty orchard crops.
