Brittany Smith
Habitat Manager (she/her)
Brittany provides habitat technical assistance to landowners throughout the eastern monarch's central flyway. Her work focuses on supporting managers of private working lands and regional agricultural stakeholders to create, restore, and sustain pollinator habitat.
Originally from Fargo, North Dakota, Brittany currently resides in south-central Kansas. She received a B.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife and a Master's in Natural Resources Management, both from North Dakota State University. Her career in conservation has taken her all over the Central Flyway, first specializing in wetland ecology and restoration in both private consulting and with USDA-NRCS, and more recently with Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever, shifting gears to focus on helping farmers analyze the costs of farming things like wetlands and evaluating habitat conservation program options to improve their bottom line while also protecting those environmentally sensitive acres. She enjoys fishing, hiking, nature photography, and managing specialty crops on her family farm in west-central Minnesota in her spare time.
