Numbers are in from Mexico, and it's good news. Monarchs occupied 2.93 hectares during the 2025-26 overwintering season, according to the survey from Telmex Telcel Foundation Alliance (WWF) and Mexico’s National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (CONANP).

After years of working together, the Monarch Joint Venture is pleased to officially welcome Natural Habitat Adventures (NatHab) to the MJV partnership. Since 1985, when the company’s first tour took guests to see harp seals in Canada’s Gulf of St. Lawrence, NatHab has been working to provide people with up-close experiences in nature in an unobtrusive manner, with trips averaging just nine guests.

The Monarch Joint Venture is happy to announce that Mississippi Master Naturalist, a program of the Mississippi State University Extension, is our latest Monarch Joint Venture partner. There is increasing interest among Master Naturalists along the Mississippi Coast in monitoring, conservation, and education related to monarchs, butterflies, and other pollinators.
