Frequently Asked Questions
I found a sick or injured monarch in the wild. What should I do?
It’s always tough to find an injured monarch. If you do find one, you have a few options:
Leave it alone and let nature take its course. If it can fly, it may be able to contribute to the population in some way, such as breeding, laying eggs, or becoming part of the greater food web.
Euthanize it humanely by putting it in the freezer. If you choose this option, it may be worth reaching out to a local school, nature center, or entomology group to see if they would like to use it for educational purposes.
If it is severely injured, you may take it in and care for it until it dies.
