Monarch Joint Venture Webinar: Building a framework for a national native seed strategy in Canada and incorporating a two-eyed seeing approach into the Southern Ontario Seed Strategy

 In 2021, Canadian Wildlife Federation (CWF) and Carolinian Canada Coalition (CCC) teamed up to build seed strategies in Canada. CWF engaged hundreds of people across Canada to create a framework for a national seed strategy and CCC engaged hundreds of people to create SOSS: the Southern Ontario Seed Strategy. The CCC team includes an Indigenous leadership pillar and took an intentional two-eyed seeing approach to creating SOSS by integrating Indigenous and Western knowledge systems to create a more holistic and culturally sensitive restoration framework. This involved collaborating with Indigenous communities, building trust, and prioritizing community-identified needs and goals.
