An exciting new position with the Monarch Joint Venture is now open for applications: the MJV Science Coordinator. The Science Coordinator will maintain and enhance the MJV’s reputation and standing as the leading science-based monarch conservation organization. They will collaborate with our team of partner organizations to build and maintain MJV’s Science Program. This work will result in innovative ways to develop and prioritize monarch conservation strategies and responses.
We are looking for a qualified conservation professional with a strong quantitative science background and excellent communication skills. The right candidate will be self-motivated, and excited to work in a team environment. They will have conducted research projects that led to peer-reviewed publications, have experience with landscape-scale conservation initiatives regarding insects or pollinators, and have demonstrated accomplishments in providing scientific advice in order to influence local, state or federal natural resource issues.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growing science-based movement to protect the declining monarch migration. The Monarch Joint Venture is leading the way in bringing together federal and state agencies, non-governmental organizations, and academic programs to work together to restore the monarch population.
As MJV continues to grow, the Science Coordinator will be an important addition to our expanding partnership. The Science Coordinator will ensure that the MJV’s conservation efforts are driven by state-of the-art conservation science, help to integrate science and conservation planning tools into the organization’s ongoing conservation and advocacy efforts and assist partners in addressing critical science needs.
