The MJV is excited to welcome the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden to the partnership! The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden (CZBG) is dedicated to creating adventure, conveying knowledge, conserving nature, and serving the community. CZBG officially opened its doors in 1875, making it the second-oldest zoo in the United States, and in 1978 became the first U.S. zoo to have an exhibit building devoted to insects. Today, the Zoo serves more than 300,000 students annually, and includes an award-winning botanical garden focused on pollinators.
A beloved institution in Cincinnati and beyond, the CZBG helps lead the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, Saving Animals From Extinction North American Monarch program, and mentoring zoos and aquariums that are new to the effort. Additionally, CZBG actively leads visitors and their communities to join in their efforts of creating pollinator habitat.Their commitment to pollinator and monarch conservation extends beyond their own gardens; they reach out into communities through their Plant for Pollinators challenge. To date, over 2,000 gardens across the United States have registered as participants in the challenge.
We are excited to have CZBG bring their social science, impact evaluation, and strategic planning expertise to the MJV partnership. Their desire to learn more about best practices for monarch conservation and share that knowledge with their large and diverse audience presents a unique opportunity for collaboration.
