Alejandra Medina

(she/her)
My name is Alejandra Medina. I am married with one little boy and another on the way. I balance life with two of my passions-- family and work. With over five years of experience in community engagement, I have had the privilege of working across diverse sectors, from the pivotal 2020 Census to impactful roles in local government and at the Minnesota Zoo. My fluency in English and Spanish has been instrumental in connecting with and empowering communities, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs addressed. During the 2020 Census, I organized outreach initiatives, engaging hard-to-reach populations to secure accurate representation and resources. In local government, I focused on fostering inclusive civic participation, facilitating dialogues, and building bridges between residents and officials. At the Minnesota Zoo, my work extended to educational and conservation programs, where I championed the significance of biodiversity and the wonders of our natural world. My passion for community and nature is deeply intertwined with my cultural heritage. To me, the monarch butterfly, a symbol of transformation and migration, deeply resonates with my own roots. Aside from its use in nature, it represents a significant cultural symbol in my culture and community. Its journey is not only a marvel of nature but also a touching reminder of the beauty and resilience in every community I serve.
