Partnering to conserve the monarch butterfly migration
Meet Our Staff
Alex Carroll
Eastern Science Coordinator (she/her)
As the Eastern Science Coordinator, Alex advances monarch conservation by supporting MJV’s science and monitoring initiatives. Through the Integrated Monarch Monitoring Program (IMMP) and remote sensing program, she conducts pollinator and habitat surveys to track monarch populations and evaluate the availability of milkweed and nectar resources on the landscape. She is excited to share current monarch research with partners and the public by leading presentations and science training. Alex is from St. Paul, MN, but she fell in love with prairie ecosystems during college at the University of Minnesota-Morris, where she graduated with a BA in Biology and Environmental Science. Before joining MJV, she conducted habitat restoration with Native Resource Preservation, and she researched the effects of prescribed burns on prairie plants with the Echinacea Project. In her free time, Alex can be found baking, playing board games, reading fantasy novels, climbing trees, and searching for insects.
