Priority Monarch Blocks Map

Priority Monarch Blocks Map

This map depicts high priority Monarch Blocks (GRTS cells) to inform randomized monarch butterfly monitoring in the United States. The lower the Monarch Block number, the higher the monitoring priority.

Each square represents a 10x10 km survey block. Actual monitoring sites within these blocks will be added to the map this spring. The top 1% priority Monarch Blocks are represented by red squares. To drill down further in the priority list for more survey area options, click on the Layers button on the upper right-hand corner of map and turn on the Top 5% layer.

You can use other tools to change the base map, show/hide the legend, search for a location, measure distances, and print and/or share a custom map.

If you would like to monitor within one of these blocks, please email the Monarch Joint Venture at mjvmonitoring@umn.edu.
