North American Monarch Institute: Minneapolis 2

The North American Monarch Institute is an intensive professional development for K-12 and pre-service teachers and non-formal educators. During this workshop, participants will learn about the monarch life cycle and migration, gain an introductory understanding of monarch conservation, and learn how to participate in multiple monarch community science programs.


This is an in-person course with some online components.

ABOUT THIS COURSE

The North American Monarch Institute is an intensive professional development for K-12 and pre-service teachers and non-formal educators. During this workshop, participants will learn about the monarch life cycle and migration, gain an introductory understanding of monarch conservation, and learn how to participate in multiple monarch community science programs. In addition to heavy monarch content, participants will also explore concepts of schoolyard ecology and invertebrate diversity while following the process of science. These workshops use the Monarchs and More curriculum as the backbone for content and instruction, and all participants receive a copy of this in addition to other materials. Most of the instruction will be done in person, but some of the learning will be done online. Participants agree to watch online content before Aug 4th and attend in-person workshop on Aug 4th.

When: Full-day class August 4, 2024, 8:30am-5pm; (online videos watched prior to Aug 4)
Where: Kroening Nature Center | 4900 N Mississippi Dr, Minneapolis, MN 55430
Who may attend: Educators of all types - PreK through 12th grade, pre-service teachers, and non-formal educators.

Cost and materials:
$75 - includes copy of Monarchs and More curriculum 

All participants will receive a printed copy of the Monarchs and More Curriculum most applicable to the audience they teach.
Certificates for 8 CEUs (clock hours) are available upon request.
