Johanna Rivera

Research & Education Intern
As a new Environment for the Americas, Monarch Joint Venture and Pollinator Posse Research & Education Intern, Johanna’s role is to support MJV’s scientific research initiatives in western monarch conservation by monitoring habitat throughout California while conducting both Integrated Monarch Monitoring Program and Monarch Larva Monitoring Program surveys. Besides monarch habitat and population monitoring, Johanna’s role also includes education outreach to increase community science engagement in monarch conservation. Born and raised in California, certified California Naturalist, B.S. in Wildlife Conservation & Management with extensive field biology experience throughout Northern California, Johanna has had the opportunity to create a kinship with more than the human world that resides on these lands. Johanna enjoys foraging for mushrooms, medicinal plants, and edible foods while bird-watching and hiking with her furry companion.
